They can be a great people, Kal-El, they wish to be

jor-el Watching some stuff on the movie networks, I was reminded of this awesome trailer for Superman Returns.  Regardless of what you thought of the movie (and I happened to like it), this is as well-crafted a trailer as one can get.  Marlon Brando’s beyond-the-grave voiceover, and John Williams’ “The Planet Krypton” theme from 1978’s Superman are perfectly matched to the action.

Hands up, everyone that wants Marlon Brando to stop being dead and crank out a good son who can fly around the world, righting wrongs and whooping ass.  That’s what I’m talking about.

UPDATE: A Side of Fries has a fascinating look at Kal-El’s return to Krypton, a sequence that was cut from the theatrical release of  Superman Returns.
