I can’t get very excited over Iran (notable supporter of Shia extremism) and Russia (notable former invader, 1979-1989) getting involved in the ISAF reconstruction and stabilisation effort. Seems like a one-two punch more or less calculated to undermine the ordinary Afghan’s confidence in the NATO mission.
The PM and MND MacKay are right to keep a weather eye on those two troublesome “allies”.
