Star Trek: Kelvin

I would probably have enjoyed a notional Star Trek: Kelvin series ten times more than Voyager or Enterprise. Especially since First Officer George Kirk did more ass-kicking in twelve minutes than the crews of The Next Generation and Voyager typically did throughout an entire season.  The animation is a little jerky (probably due to the competing demands of rendering and capturing said rendering on the same machine), but the concept is sound.

This reminds me, why aren’t Trek nerds cranking out “Remember the Kelvin!” posters a la Pearl Harbour?  Seriously.

Domus et placens uxor

If you have seen J.J. Abrams’ Star Trek, then you will know that the Kirk family has something of a heroic tradition.  I could watch the first ten or twelve minutes on an endless loop for a couple of weeks and not get tired of it.

With that in mind, I would like to share the following humorous conversation I had a day ago.

Chris: I think we should name our first son George Kirk.

Wanda: I am going to pretend that you did not say that.

Chris: What?  Why not?  George Kirk is the fucking man.

Wanda: No, the writer who created that scene is the fucking man.  George Kirk doesn’t actually exist.

Chris: Well… he’s never going to unless somebody names their kid after him!
